Song of the Week: Sleep Rules Everything Around Me (Fugazi & Wu-Tang Clan)
Hey sports fans. P-Wigz here filling in for JZ, who’s in the city of brotherly love, presumably loving brothers.
If you know me, you know I love a good mashup. I came dangerously close to posting “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse with Pharoahe Monch rapping over it, but decided that topic is about as predictable at A-dub’s untimely demise.
Instead, please enjoy the soothing sounds of Fugazi, accompanied by the sick-tight rhymes issuing forth from Raekwon the Chef, Method Man & Inspectah Deck of the Wu-Tang Center for Advanced Studies in Mathematics

This song has been smangin’ my earholes for a couple of weeks now. As a matter of fact, there’s whole album of Wugazi mashups assembled by two enterprising DJs that I’ve kept pretty heavy in the recent rotation.http://wugazi.com/
I’ll note that the Fugazi component of S.R.E.A.M. is atypical of Fugazi. “Soothing” is not a type of sound they typically make (see, e.g., “Great Cop”). Their post-hardcore and subsequent art rock tunes would seem an unlikely compliment to the lyrical stylings of the brothers Wu. It totally works though, in a big way.
You can download the album, 13 Chambers, at the link posted above, where you can also feast your eyeballs on a Wugazi fan video comprised of clips from The Wire. Omar comin’!
Hope you dig,
P-Wigz
